Frequently Asked Questions

The Vans

  • We work on the AWD Ford Transit 148 EL platform as well as the AWD Mercedes Sprinter 170.

  • Those are fighting words in the van community! Each van has its pros and cons.

  • Absolutely, as long as it is one of our supported configurations. Our sales team can help you with pricing on a bring-your-own-van build.

  • Much of the choice will come down to personal preference. Our team loves talking vans and can help you talk through the decisions. Book your free consultation.

  • Absolutely! Customizing your van is one of the best parts of the process. We provide numerous personalization options, from selecting the perfect exterior color to choosing the interior layout and materials. Our team will work with you to ensure your van is a unique reflection of your vision and lifestyle.

  • We believe a fully plumbed black tank system is the superior choice for a true home-like experience. While many van builders opt for cassette or dry flush toilets—often because plumbing a black tank is more challenging—we believe the effort is worth it. Our vans are designed to integrate the black tank dumping seamlessly with the grey tank system, allowing you to handle both disposal processes at once. This design provides more capacity and a cleaner, more convenient experience without the hassle of a manual cassette.

Purchasing

  • RVs can be financed up to 20 years with a 20% minimum down payment.

  • Our shop is in Lawrence, KS. We are about 45 minutes from the Kansas City International airport.

  • Nope! We love to send you off in your new van in person but are happy to arrange free shipping to the lower 48 states.

  • Sales tax is paid in the state where you register the van and varies greatly by location.

  • Our build times can vary depending on the season. The highest demand typically comes in the spring, when many people are ready to kick off their summer adventures. While we love the enthusiasm, this can create longer lead times.

For the quickest turnaround, we recommend placing your order in the fall or winter. This allows us to complete your build with a shorter queue, ensuring your van is ready for the first day of spring.

Once we have the van at our facility, a custom build typically takes 8-10 weeks. If you're looking to hit the road sooner, be sure to check our inventory page for completed vans that are ready for immediate purchase.

Van Life

  • We love Roamly! We aren’t getting paid to say that either. We use them for our personal camper vans and they make the process super easy and affordable. https://www.roamly.com/

  • Not if you do it right! While it's a common concern, the process is surprisingly clean and straightforward. With a little practice, a pair of gloves, and the right procedure, it only takes a few minutes, and you'll be back to enjoying your trip.

  • It's up to you!

If your family of four is using the shower and toilet daily and running the AC constantly, you'll likely need to resupply within a day or two. But if you're willing to embrace the "van life" spirit—taking a dip in a nearby lake to rinse off, using the “trees” when you can, and enjoying the breeze through open windows instead of the AC—you can easily stretch your off-grid time to several weeks.

The good news is that in sunny climates, our solar panels are more than capable of keeping the batteries topped off every day, so you'll have plenty of power for your needs.

  • Showering in a camper van is definitely a learned skill! It's normal to feel a bit clumsy at first and bump the walls, but you'll quickly get the hang of it. Our shower setup is designed to be efficient and roomy enough to get the job done. If you ever feel too cramped, you can always use our convenient outdoor shower.

  • Absolutely! We've made sure our vans are comfortable for taller adventurers. The central walkway offers generous headroom, measuring around 6 feet 4 inches. The bathroom is a bit shorter at 6 feet 2 inches, but still provides enough space. The best part? Our standard queen mattress is 6 feet 8 inches long, so you won't have to worry about your feet hanging off the end. You might find the space a little cozy when moving around, but when you're relaxing in a seat or bed, you'll feel right at home.

  • The entire Moon Wolf Vans lineup is built for adventure on the road less traveled. With our standard all-wheel-drive system and all-terrain tires, you can confidently navigate dirt roads, gravel paths, and a variety of challenging surfaces. However, it's important to remember that these are still large, top-heavy vehicles. We always recommend using caution and good judgment when exploring, just as you would with any large vehicle.
